FoodScore Editorial Team
The people who build the FoodScore database, write the editorial content, and keep the scoring formula honest.
The FoodScore editorial team is responsible for the nutrient dataset, the scoring formula, and every word of editorial content on this site. We read per-100g panels from USDA FoodData Central, cross-reference the FDA Daily Values, apply the USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2020-2025 thresholds, and publish the resulting score.
We are transparent about what we are and what we are not. We are editors and data practitioners with experience in structured-data consumer tools. We are not registered dietitians (RD/RDN) or physicians. Every nutrition claim on the site is grounded in US government reference values and accepted dietary science, and we never quote individual researchers or fabricate studies. When a FoodScore could change someone's clinical decision, we link to primary sources and recommend consulting an RD.
Everything we publish is versioned. The formula constants are documented in the methodology page, calibration changes are logged, and quarterly data refreshes pull from the latest USDA dataset without silent rewrites.
